While the Governess is conducting class in the women's quarters, so as not to bother the sailors of the Firebrand, Silver Fox takes his wife aside. They have cleared the docks and are well on their way out to sea. "One thing I thought I should apprise you of, Estel..." "Yes?" "White Rose seems to be a nice young girl. Her Governess is, or was, a rebel cabal sister." "Oh? You're sure, of course," says the captain. "I know my people," replies the army leader. "But Sable wants anonymity."

She is unabashedly delighted to discover that there will be other teens near her own age aboard for the duration of the voyage. Her Governess looks stern; "Your lessons will continue unabated, of course," she informs White Rose. Then, as if making a great concession, "The other young people may listen in if they choose." Oddly enough, Amen almost instantly takes her up on this offer, thanking Sable for her time. This prompts Syeha to wish to sit in, and therefore Makto and Maia join also.

Silver Fox takes the northern girl under his wing immediately, as Captain Shooting Star is busy for a while getting the ship underway. He shows her, and Governess Sable, where they will bunk, and helps them stash their belongings. They have more luggage than anyone else has yet brought, but as White Rose is going to the Island Archipelago for an extended stay, this is only to be expected. Then introductions are made all around. Apparently no one told the ambassador to anticipate other teens.
