Pysanky MakerGame by: Emerald Activities & Doll Divine I made this adorable game at a game jam, together with the creators of Emerald Activities! You can see my hobbled together artwork in the bunny, baby chick, and some of the strokes in the stamp collection. I grew up in Poland, and this is actually how we decorate Easter eggs as well! We call them pisanki, although this method was made most famous by the Ukrainian community, where they call them pysanky. This egg decorating method is a bit of a mind twister because you color the eggs in reverse! 1. First, you use bees wax to cover up the areas that you want to keep white. In this case, you can use the crayons to draw your own designs, or the stamps below to make more consistent creations. Traditionally, we use a pinhead that's been stuck into a pencil eraser to create the droplet shaped swoops that you see. 2. Next, you choose a dye color and use the Hand icon to lift the egg and gently dip it into the cup of color. The longer you keep the egg inside, the darker the color will become! Tip: pull the egg out slowly to create an ombre effect! 3. Next, you can either hold the egg over the candle to melt the wax, or add more wax to prepare for the next color. The egg gets darker with each dip so you need to plan your design ahead of time. It's tricky! Good luck creating your own, beautiful Ukrainian or Slavic easter eggs or Писанки.
