| Tilion ("Horned One", Quenya) was a Maia serving Oromë, he loved spending as much time as possible in the gardens of Lórien. Like Arien, he only assumed a physical form when in Valinor; he would travel "as a flash of naked silver". After the death of the trees Telperion and Laurelin, each bore one last fruit, and Aulë used them to fashion the vessels of the sun and moon. Tilion was chosen to guide the vessel of the moon, he rose before Arien did. The servants of Morgoth attacked him, but Tilion managed to fend them off. Varda had worked out routes they should adhere to, but Tilion felt always drawn to Arien, and would often stray from his designated path. One time, he got so close to her that he was burned, leading to the darkening of the moon. Tilion wields a bow made from silver. For some reason, I was certain that his name was actually Isil (which is a name for the moon, not the Maia) and named one of my kittens Isil. The other is called Arien.
